What it is, in plain words

Vireta is an app where a group of people decides together, and the ones who count for most are the ones who have actually done their part.

THE PROBLEM

Merit almost never counts

In a residents’ meeting, in a company meeting, in an online community, what decides in the end is who holds the most shares, who has the most money or who speaks best.Whoever put in the work for the group often counts exactly as much as someone who never lifted a finger — and sooner or later stops bothering.Vireta starts from a simple question: what if a person’s weight depended on the merit they had built, instead of on money, rank or charisma?

THE DECISION

Merit on one side, money on the other

Two separate things exist in Vireta, and they never touch. One is a currency: it can be bought, exchanged, used to pay and to be paid. The other is merit: it is earned only by contributing, it stays attached to the person, it has no price because it is not for sale — and it is the only thing that gives a voice in decisions.Keeping them apart is the choice everything else depends on: if money could replace merit even once, Vireta would go back to being like all the rest.

HOW IT WORKS

A merit with a history

Vireta does not start over when you close the app:the community keeps existing, with its history and its rules, even while nobody is watching.Every recognised contribution and every decision taken leaves a verifiable trace, so anyone’s merit can always be demonstrated — and whoever is penalised unfairly can prove it and appeal. It is the same principle that holds up Fondazione Stelion — one truth, always valid — applied to something much larger.

THE TECHNICAL VERSION

The technical version

A persistent socio-economic system with separation of powers:a legislative assembly, an executive, an appeals tribunal, guilds of validators. Two assets: Merit, non-transferable and off-chain, the only weight in governance, weighted by domain competence rather than one head one vote; and the VRTA token, on-chain and freely tradeable, with zero voting power.Every change in Merit comes from a deterministic, signed and versioned decision, computed over a package of verified evidence; governed parameters live in a versioned policy registry and are referenced, never copied by value. The blockchain is used where it earns its place — anchoring attestations and settling the token — while Merit stays off-chain, where it can be corrected on appeal. The architecture is a core plus instances: a shared core for identity, evidence verification, merit and appeals, on top of which individual collectives will be able to deliberate.Designed adversarial-first: every reward is treated as a target, with explicit defences against Sybil attacks, collusion and farming.
